Stacks
This body of work began with a series of stacks (piled wheel thrown vessels), which come from a meditation on the body and form. I spend a lot of time thinking about wrinkles, folds, curves, in bodies both clay and human. These stacks became model for a fountain I built for a group show, SPACORE, at Co-prosperity gallery in Chicago. The fountain is 4 feet tall and rests upon a bed of broken pots. The fabric covering thee walls of the gallery reclaim the white walls and transform the space into a living archive, with small film photos tucked between its folds. I wanted the visitor to step away and be held (collapse).
